Are you a cat lover? If so how many cats do you have? Is your cat good at home? Well, Of course, it is really very easy answering such questions, when raised by someone or other.

But what would be the answer if the question falls the other way round, such as, is your cat really secure? Does your cat return home safely at nights, without any rashes or bruises that are indeed created by other cats?

Are you sure, that your loveable cat alone eats the quality cat food that you have bought to her with at most care and affection? Most of the cat lovers would be finding it difficult to answer these questions.

Indeed these are the daily problems faced by cat lovers. These questions make the cat lovers feel worried about their dearest pets, creating a mourning atmosphere in their minds.

Sometimes it’s really hard to experience situations when the pet leaves the home and stays lost for two to three days. Is there a remedy for all these hard moments? If at all there is a solution, will it guarantee on the safety and security of the pet? Or are there any permanent solutions for all these problems to come to an end.

Can your cat be safe from being bullied by other stray cats? Can your cat be safe in indoor without escaping, if the weather outside is very terrible and violent? The answer for all these questions is so easy, and it is as simple as looking for sweet in a sugar factory. Of course, the answer for this is a big ‘YES!’.

The antidote for all these physical and environmental threats that are literally experienced by the owner and the pet has now come to light. The product is a nascent technology launched in our markets, which can be readily put to working status. It is what we call as PETPORTE CAT FLAP.

The Microchip Petporte Catflap is a great remedy for cat lovers and to keep other cats out. It exists to provide advanced animal access systems to make both cats and their owners lives better.

This is a Collarless technology, which indeed keeps the pet away from hard and rough collars which leaves a mark on the neck of the pet.

Petporte Catflap was invented and patented by one of the Guernsey’s leading vets, who wishes to remain nameless, which is just a series of inventions that will be coming onto the market intended to make your life, and your cat’s life, more enjoyable.

Petporte is the first Catflap in the world to prevent other cats from entering your home and recognizing your cat without the need for cat electronic, magnetic cat collar attachments, heavy collar tags, restrictive collars and infra red.

The owner of the pet need not worry because there are no harmful magnetic fields or infra red light emitted from the device that could make the pet sick, this product is highly reliable and secure and there is no danger involved in it at all.

Pet Porte, indeed will be friendly equipment for the safety of the pet. The Pet Porte product is not at all complicated, and it’s really very simple and ready for use, most probably the user of this Pet Porte product will not require you to constantly refer to the manual, because the whole technology works using just two simple buttons, one in red and the other in green.

Only the cats which have been previously programmed by the microchip gains access through the highly tensile magic door.

In the PetPorte Catflap there are two distinct modes worth mentioning.

The modes of operation that are likely to be used here are the VET MODE and the NIGHT MODE:

The vet mode is most commonly used in order to keep the pet indoor due to some specific reasons. And night mode uses a little more advanced technology, in which the magic door gets automated according to the light intensity of the outside atmosphere, thus it remains locked at nights, and of course the pet will always have access through the Catflap when it is outside the house. Thus these multimodal operations make Petporte Catfap unique from all the other Catflaps.

Now, while discussing about the initial steps of installation procedures, makes one feel that Petporte Catflap, is designed with at most simplicity and a product that shows a great deal of flexibility.

Programming the Petporte is again a very short and simple process, as there are no complex steps involved, indeed the whole installation is only a single step process.

The owner has to just press and hold the green button (beep sound is heard) and then the pet is made to pass through the magic door under the range of the sensor porch (beep sound is heard again). That is all the owner has to do, in order to finish with the programming process, in this same method an average of 32 different cats (approx) can be programmed.

There may be a question arising among the users that what actually happens when the pet is made to pass through the Petporte. This is nothing but, when the pet is passed through the Petporte the intelligent sensors present in the body of the Catflap recognizes the existing microchip ID implants, so this method is highly secure and reliable and its clearly evident from this fact that stray cats will never find an entry into the house .

This adorable product uses an adapter that is fixed directly to the power supply, rather than using batteries which may run out frequently or unexpectedly .The power supply that enters this Catflap is very safe, and its not at all harmful for the pet in any means, here there are no chances of short circuits or earth line problems, even if the pet chews or pounces on the lead insulated cables, as the voltage is very less and it’s only around twelve volts. Thus the information in Petporte’s memory is left as it is even if there happens to be a sudden power failure.

The major characteristics of the magic door that is used in the Petporte is that its highly tensile and strong as it has the capacity to withstand the pouncing/attacks ,even if it is created by the toughest cat around on the streets.

As the door is connected to the mains power, the magic door opens/closes at the blink of an eye, i.e. in just few microseconds, so that you’re lovable cat can enjoy its play with the Petporte, even if she/he loves to dash in and out frequently.

The Petporte is friendly device to your pet, and it is designed in such a way that, there will not be any possibilities in which the tail or the paws of the pet getting stuck. Eventually there are no possibilities for other stray cats to enter, thus making your cat feel free and relaxed at all times.

The Petporte Catflap has many salient features which makes it unique and reliable when compared to all the other Catflaps. In fact the other Catflaps such as traditional, magnetic and infrared flaps have their own disadvantages at different situations.

Firstly, while discussing about the features of the traditional cat flaps, when used and kept under observation for few days causes many drastic moments. The result is that within one night the owner can see his house ruined i.e. his carpets torn and scrambled, urine all over the wall, the cat food missing from its tray, the pet left with the marks of being bullied-all these are the nonsense created by the non others, but the stray cats. Thus these are the adverse effects caused when traditional type flaps are used.

Secondly, comes the magnetic Catflaps kind of flaps, all the pets which exist with magnetic collars can gain access through the door, this is a major drawback. And the other issue is that, magnetic collars are heavily and tight, that makes the pet feel uncomfortable.

Thirdly comes the infrared Catflaps, these Flaps have sensors both at the transmitting and receiving ends and the door opens only if the sensor in the collar points directly to the sensor on the door. These Infrared Catflaps are expensive too, indeed the amount of complexity involved in these methods are more .Finally all these demerits or disadvantages experienced when using other Catflaps are in turn changed into an advantage, merit or a positive point when Petporte Microchip Catflap is used.

ADVANTAGES INVOLVED IN USING PETPORTE

The Microchip Petporte Catflap was invented with lots of advantages in it like,The irritation caused by the collar on a cat can be averted by the use of the cats existing microchip. With the help of locking mechanism, stray cat can be kept away from dearest cats.To understand a cat need better, this has been purely invented by a vet, therefore the cat needs can be catered much efficiently by use of Microchip Petporte Catflap.

The pains of bringing a cat at nights it’s not an issue, by the use of Microchip Petporte Catflap the light level will be detected automatically and thereby your cats can sub sequentially brought into house at nights.

With the presence of Microchip Petporte Catflap, you will be able to know, if your cat inside the house or elsewhere, the beeping system of Pet Port will make you aware of the presence of your cat inside the house. You can easily switch the beep off if you want to.

The presence of magnetic latch in the Microchip Petporte Catflap, keeps the flap intact when the wind blows thus protecting the cats from getting hurt.

The simple two button operation mechanism Microchip Petporte Catflap, gives a full control over cats world.

Microchip Petporte Catflap allows you to program up to 32 cats of your choice and only the cats which are programmed can be under the scrutiny.

The programmable microchip within Microchip Petporte Catflap prevents the loss of information about cat during a short circuit or power failure.

All of this comes under low voltage intake with no batteries to replace so your cat can always come back inside.

This product is cat friendly where the doors are specially designed and makes it virtually impossible for your cat to get its paws stuck in the door. Hence the Petporte Microchip Catflap is a divine product that has been launched in the markets in order to quench the thirst of worried cat lovers, and this is a great time for those cat lovers to make full use of this great product.

The product has satisfied the customers whomsoever use the Petporte, thus making the users feel comfortable and relaxed at nights rather than worrying about their pets, since there is a friend there at the door step giving at most security to the loveable pets.

I make sure their is a draught and i make sure she can see out of the window. My border collie in contrast LOVES the car (actually a spacious van). has anyone any suggestions.

How to Protect Your Pet for Less

We share the secret to finding quality pet insurance that doesn’t cost the earth.

Whether you share your home with a cat, a dog, or something more exotic, there’s no denying that pets are an expensive addition to the family, not least when they get sick.

As there is no NHS equivalent for animals, owners are left to foot the bill when their furry friends are under the weather and, as even basic treatment can end up costing thousands, pet insurance is something of a necessity in making sure that if your pet does get sick you can afford to help them to get better.

Although some see it as unnecessary, those who have had to fork out for expensive veterinary fees in the past will swear by the financial protection that pet insurance provides and, as with most things this is a lesson better learned sooner rather than later.

As with any kind of insurance there are a whole range of policies available from different providers and while this can be a little overwhelming it’s actually a good thing as comparing pet insurance quotes can really help you to save. Once you’ve decided on the type of cover you need you can enlist the help of pet insurance comparison sites to shop around for pet insurance compare the different options available and protect your pet with the best pet insurance policy for less.

To make finding the right cover hassle free, we share our top tips for what to look for in a cheap pet insurance policy:

Levels of cover

The major difference between pet insurance policies tends to be the level of cover offered against the cost of veterinary bills. As this is a major factor in determining both policy premiums and the level of protection provided for your pet it’s important to understand your options when you compare pet insurance plans so that you can choose a level of cover that suits your budget and requirements.

The three most common levels of cover offered by insurers are:

Limited cover policies – Designed to provide assistance with the cost of treatment for short term illness and accidents, policies of this type tend to limit both the amount paid out and duration of the cover (typically 12 months) available for each condition. However, because of this, limited cover policies tend to be the cheapest pet insurance option available and can provide an incredibly affordable means of protecting your pet (and your wallet) against the unexpected.

Capped cover policies – This type of insurance will specify a maximum amount covered for each diagnosed condition, however this will be available to claim against throughout the life of the policy. For this reason, while a little more expensive, policies of this type tend to provide better protection against longer term ailments such as eczema and asthma, although again, once the maximum amount has been paid out the condition will no longer be covered. Having said that, this type of policy can provide a good compromise between cover and cost.

Lifelong cover policies – Lifelong cover policies tend to be the most expensive option, however they do provide the most comprehensive protection for you and your pet as they fully protect against the cost of both short term and long term illnesses. This type of policy will usually specify an amount claimable for each condition however; this will be reset each year on renewal so that any ailment your pet is diagnosed with will receive treatment indefinitely.

What else is covered?

While veterinary fees are often the most important aspect of pet insurance most policies offer other benefits designed to provide financial protection against a wide range of eventualities. Features to look out for when you compare pet insurance UK include:

Third party liability – This is included to some extent in most pet insurance policies and is a necessary addition as it protects you financially against legal action should your pet cause injury or damage to person or property either directly (i.e. a bite or scratch) or indirectly (i.e. your pet causes a car accident by running into the road).

Advertising costs – Many providers will offer a specified amount to cover the cost of advertising and reward to help with recovery if your pet goes missing.

Complementary medicine – Some providers will cover the cost of specified complementary treatments if they’re deemed necessary for your pets recuperation after sickness or injury.

Overseas travel – If you are planning to take your pet abroad at some point in the future its important to ensure that the protection of their pet insurance policy is extended overseas.

Boarding costs – Some policies will pay out a certain amount to cover boarding fees if you are taken into hospital and have no one else to look after your pet.

Holiday compensation – Some pet insurance policies will pay out an amount in compensation if you need to cut short or cancel a pre-booked holiday because your pet has fallen ill.

Loss or death – Many insurers will pay out compensation for the loss or death of your pet and some may also contribute to the cost of cremation or burial.

What’s not covered?

As pet insurance policies differ in the level of cover they offer it’s important to familiarise yourself with the small print before purchasing so that you’re aware what’s covered and what’s not. However, common exclusions to look out for include:

Existing conditions – Few pet insurance policies will cover the treatment of pre-existing conditions. Having said that it’s always best to disclose any problems your pet has upfront as future claims may be invalidated if you’re found not to be completely honest.

Hereditary conditions – Pedigree dogs often suffer from problems that have a hereditary basis and some insurers will exclude their treatment from your cover.

Routine checkups – Few pet insurance policies will pay out for routine checkups, vaccinations or worming. However, it is still important to keep treatments such as these up to date.

How much will it cost?

The cost of your pet insurance UK policy will be determined by a number of factors including your pet’s age, its breed and your location (premiums tend to be more expensive in the south to cover the more expensive veterinary fees). Your pets current health will also play a role in determining your premium as will the excess associated with your policy.

Most pet insurance providers allow you to reduce the cost of your policy by increasing the excess you will need to cover in the event of a claim and this can be a good option providing your pet is in good health and you set the excess at an affordable amount.

However, a word of caution on this; some providers offer you the option of paying a ‘co-excess’. This involves paying out a certain percentage of any claim and while it can reduce premiums it tends to be worth avoiding as if your pet requires expensive treatment you’ll be left paying a large percentage of the bill, you will need to watch out for this when you make your pet insurance comparisons.

So, while there are a lot of options to consider, by comparing the different pet insurance policies and levels of cover available you should be able to find cheap pet insurance for dogs, cats, horses, rabbits or any other animal you keep as a pet so that you can cover the cost of expert care for your pet when they need it most.

Pet insurance?

Pet insurance?
As an owner of three dogs and two cats, I’m constantly in the vets office with unexpected, and sometimes expected, bills. Does anyone have any recommendations on good pet insurance companies to look into? I’m mainly looking for a company that would allow me the ability to have a large percentage of the vet bill paid by them, and the ability for me to make payments on the existing bill that’s left. I know many insurance companies I’ve looked into only accept certain breeds and/or they have extreme limitations on what is covered at the vet. Any advice?

Answer
My wife and I adopted two kittens last December. We were well aware of the costs involved with veterinary services. After looking into several of the options on insurance, we decided that it would be both convenient and cost effective to choose Banfield’s insurance program at Petsmart. To date, after all the shots and other visits (fleas, dewormers, hip problems, etc.) we have saved $1,343 for both cats. That is the amount the insurance has paid. We have spent only $30 a month plus the activation fee of around $100. All said and done, we are very pleased with the peace of mind knowing that our pets are insured. Also knowing that without insurance, we would have already spent over $2,000 in seven months for two kittens makes it that much sweeter. Hope I have been able to help. Good luck!

Instead of worrying about the scorching heat and sweat, you can enjoy the sunny days with your pets in a soothing place. They are definitely a part of our family. Taking them in picnic and in outdoor excursion can be fun. But hot summer days can be harmful for them if proper precaution is not taken.

You need to consider this issue. Cats and dogs do not sweat like us. We are blessed with the sweat functioning, but not our pets. It helps us to carry the heat away. Cats and dogs do not have any sweat glands. Instead of sweating they pant. Through panting they dispel heat. But it is not that efficient in controlling heat.

Pet health is really an important issue to all the pet lovers. There are some easy and very effective ways through which you can protect your pets from unbearable heat. You can really make them feel comfortable and happy by applying these strategies. There are some effective pet rescue tips.

1. Water is one of the best things that you can give to your pet to regulate their body temperature. Increase the amount of water for the pets during the summer months. Keep one extra bucket fill of water so that it can be used in time of emergency. Keep the bucket away from sun so that water can remain at room temperature or cool.

2. While making the shelter for your pet, make it sure that it is away from sun and there is enough shade. It is better to select a good shade area for your pet. You can also make a shelter beside your house.

3. Many people prefer to encourage their pets to exercise. It is wise on your part to fix the schedule of exercising in the evening or morning avoiding the hot weather of the day. It will not cause any problem to your pet.

4. It is very important to park your vehicle in a proper place, especially in a shade area. In case you are shopping for groceries, you should make it sure that your pet symptoms is safe inside your car and the car is placed in a shady area. The temperature of the car may increase if it is left under the sun.

5. Not all pets know how to swim. Before you put them in swimming pool you need to make it sure that they know swimming. You can gradually make them learn swimming. You need to rinse them off after they swim.

6. Your pet also needs sunscreen. Smear good quality sunscreen, created especially for pets, on their ears, noses, and other bare skin areas to prevent sunburn.

7. It is better to take your pets to the vets to check whether they are protected against heartworm or not. During the summer months harmful pests like mosquitoes to enough to all of us. You can use mosquito net to protect your pets from these blood sucking mosquitoes.

Does it anger you when people post questions about a pet instead of taking them to the doctor?

It angers me when people post questions about a seriously ill pet with symptoms that they have to know are serious. Why aren’t they calling their vet’s office instead of posting. A good vet will tell you if they need to be seen immediately or can wait. And what you should do in the mean time. I can see posting questions about a condition or something you have already seen the vet for and are just asking further information or for people who have had similar situations. But it angers me that there are so many ignorant pet owners many of whom probably don’t even have a good relationship with a vet or even know basic information about dogs.Every pet owner should educate themselves about their pet including species, etc. That is basic common SENSE.
It’s been great knowing I’m not the only one who feels this way, I was starting to think there were a vast majority of people who didn’t care about their pets!
Thanks all!

Oh and Pale Rider, it became my business when they posted a question about their pet.
I sympathize with the owners who ‘can’t afford’ to treat their pet, but really isn’t it just as true that if you can’t afford to take care of your pet you shouldn’t own one. And there is low cost quality pet insurance a few dollars a month is worthwhile if you know a big vet bill would keep you from taking your ‘best friend’ to the vet. There are also many vets who will offer sliding scale fees to people with low income.

Answer
I agree. If your pet is vomiting blood or has been hit by a car, common sense (and love for the animal) would tell you to bring it to a vet. The not-so-serious symptoms such as “my cat won’t use the litterbox” or “my dog ate a small piece of chocolate” are more appropriate for this page.

But there are a lot of people out there that take in pets, despite the fact that they are not financially ready. Those are probably the people posting questions as well as the younger users.

I feel you, but whatcha gonna do? These people have found themselves as a pet owner some way or another, so we put up with their cluelessness and help out. Afterall, that’s what Answers is for. I’d assume that if enough people answered with “BRING IT TO THE VET” the message may get across and they’ll listen.

All pets depend on their owners with everything they need. Their owners usually give even the basic things to them. These include foods, shelter and pet meds.

About pet meds, we can purchase them at our local pets office or at the local retail store, but sometimes we don’t have time to finding the best product or can not find the one our pet recommends.

The best reason to look for cheap pet meds is internet, because in fact, if you shop for cheap pet meds online, you can find all kind of great pet meds on the internet from all over the world. Simply, you need to have your vet verify your product information. You can compare prices of identical products and look for special promotions or coupon codes. You are able to buy discount pet meds online and save a greats deal of money. You will not have to worry about go out in all kinds of weather to purchase the pet meds supplies you need to ensure that your pet stays healthy during every season of the year.

But remember, purchasing pet meds online is different that buying them at your vet’s office or local retail store, because sometimes you don’t have a long time to wait, you animal needs the medications now.

Here are some important tips to buying pet meds online:

Shipping

Also be sure to get in exacts timeframe for went the pet meds will be delivered. Get them to guarantee it in writing if you can, heck, if you are saving a lot you can’t even afford to get the super fast shipping. Think about it’s because your animal needs the medicine now.

Reputable Manufacturer

You do need to be careful though, just as you do went shopping for your own pet meds. The ones that you choose should be from a reputable manufacturer. Don’t go with cheap pet meds just because they are cheap, go with them because you now they are worth a lot but you are getting a good price on them. Your goal should be to find the best quality pet meds for a fraction of what you would pay from the pet.

Total cost

The pet size is important to note since it is easy for advertisers to draw you in with an attractive pet meds price. However, this may not be the best value for your situation if you own a large (example cat) or perhaps even multiple cats. The point is to compare price across a consistent grade in order to find the best discounts

Support

Make sure your online pet meds supplier deals solely with pet related product in case, customer service is an important part of any sales transaction, ideally they would also feature a staff of veterinarians available to answer any questions you have about their pet meds products

When many of us think of allergies, we, humans, are often the first thing that comes to mind. There are millions of Americans, alone, who suffer from allergies. These allergies may be due to food, mold, mildew, as well as the weather. Although humans are the most common sufferers of allergies, did you know that pets can also develop allergies? They can. In fact, dogs are the most common animals that suffer from allergies.

When it comes to determining if your dog or pet has allergies, many individuals do not know how to proceed. For starters, it is important to look for the symptoms. In fact, did you know that some pet allergy symptoms are similar to the ones that humans show? They are. One of the most commons signs that your pet may have an allergy is if they are constantly itching themselves. Another sign is that of skin irritation. With that being said, constant itching and skin irritation often go hand in hand.

Although it is relatively easy for some pet owners to determine if their pets are suffering from allergies, some are still unsure. If that describes you, you will want to seek medical attention for your dog, cat, or any other pet that may have allergies. A vet can do a number of tests, as well as examine your dogs skin to determine if they are suffering from allergies. Before you take your dog to the vet, you are encouraged to write down any questions that you may have or anything that may have caused you concerned. For example, did your dog start itching after getting into some weeds your backyard? Did you just change their pet food or give them a new pet toy or a new pet bed? If so, your vet should know.

Another one of the many reasons why it is a good idea to take your dog or cat to the vet is because you will likely end up doing so anyways. Many humans are able to stop itching, even when the urge to do so seems uncontrollable. Pets on the other hand, aren’t always able to do so. If you notice that your dog is itching a specific area of their body for more than two or three days, a visit to the vet may be in order. The same should be said, if you notice a skin rash or any broken skin. If left untreated, your pet may develop an infection, which is actually much worse that just having allergies.

As for how your dog or cat can be treated if they do have allergies, it is best that you follow the advice of your vet. This is because some of the medications prescribed may be for animals only, but some may also be human medications. The only thing is that not all medications are ideal for dogs; therefore, it is important to follow the advice of your vet. As for treatment, many prescribe antibiotic and antifungal cream for rashes or infections that may have already developed on the skin. Other preventative steps will likely be taken. For example, if your dog is allergic to a specific weed in your backyard, you may need to remove it or keep your dog away from the area. Although the treatment offered is likely to vary, most options will immediately provide relief to pets that are suffering.

Is your dog sick? What are your dog’s symptoms? We all know that your dog can’t tell you if it feels bad (at least not in so many words), so it’s your responsibility to take care of your dog and to understand when your dog is feeling bad.

Just how do you do that? Well, the best thing I can suggest to you is to know exactly how your dog feels when it is not sick. If you know this, and you know it well, you will be able to tell the difference when your dog is really sick without anyone else having to tell you otherwise.

When your dog feels bad he will probably exhibit some sort of symptom that should communicate to you, if you’re really paying attention, that he does not feel well. What is a symptom? Well, to be precise, a symptom is often defined as ‘a physical sign that a disease or sickness is present’. Knowing exactly what kind of symptoms your dog has can usually guide your veterinarian toward diagnosing your pet illness.

Here are just a few of the more common symptoms your dog may exhibit if it is injured or feels ‘under the weather’, including: vomiting, diarrhea, going off it’s food, stumbling, seizing, drooling or limping.

The ability of recognizing your dogs symptoms and knowing when they need to be treated professionally is very important. This is a skill that everyone does not have but learning it can be the difference between life and death in many instances. The best thing I can tell you is to watch carefully. If your dog exhibits any thing out of the ordinary, and if that symptom continues or worsens over time, then it could very well become a problem.

Certain symptoms, such as seizures, breathing problems, or any kind of collapse should prompt you to get your dog a veterinary exam immediately. If there is ever any kind of doubt about the seriousness of any symptom then please contact your veterinarian or local veterinary emergency facility immediately and ask. Don’t wait to see if it’ll go away on it’s own. Explain the symptoms to the pet professional and ask for their advice. It is always better to be safe than sorry if you’re not sure whether or not your dog is in serious trouble.

There are all sorts of serious symptoms that should never be ignored in your dog. Potentially any of these symptoms could easily indicate an underlying disease and might even be your first clue to the presence of a life-threatening conditioning in your dog. You never know. So, here are a few symptoms that should never be ignored if you see them in your own dog!

Seizure. A seizure is often a symptom of some sort of neurological disorder. They can be caused by several things including epilepsy, toxins or tumors. Contact your veterinarian immediately.

Collapse or Fainting. Any reasons for collapse or fainting should always be considered serious and should not be ignored. Contact your veterinarian immediately.

Breathing Problems. Respiratory distress, labored or difficult breathing or even shortness of breath are all very serious symptoms and should be taken care of immediately.

Bloated or Distended Abdomen. Abdominal distension is an abnormal enlargement of the abdominal cavity and can often be a symptom of potentially life-threatening disease. Contact your veterinarian immediately.

Unproductive Vomiting. Dogs that attempt to vomit over and over and are never able to bring anything up is very serious. You should call your veterinarian immediately.

Trouble Urinating. This can range from: straining to urinate, frequently attempting to urinate, or even great discomfort when urinating. This can be very serious. Contact your veterinarian immediately.

Bruising and/or Bleeding. This should be evaluated immediately by your veterinarian.

Not Eating or Loss of Appetite. This is often the first indication of illness in your dog. This should be evaluated immediately by your veterinarian.

Pacing and Restlessness. In dogs, pacing and/or restlessness can usually be indicative of pain, discomfort or distress in your dog. In many cases it an indicator of a serious problem. This should be evaluated immediately by your veterinarian.

Losing Weight. There are several causes for this, if you’re not actually trying to help your dog lose extra pounds – some of which can be very serious. This should be evaluated immediately by your veterinarian.

Urinating and Drinking Excessively. Either of these are often the early signs of several diseases such as: kidney failure, diabetes, thyroid problems, uterine infections, etc. If you think that your dog is drinking excessively, make an appointment with your veterinarian immediately.

Fever. The normal temperature in dogs is 100.5 to 102.5 degrees Fahrenheit. If your dogs temperature is higher, call your veterinarian asap.

Excessive coughing. Don’t think that this is no big deal. Coughing is a common protective reflex to clear the throat, etc. It can also affect the respiratory system if the coughing is excessive. Common causes of excessive coughing can be quite severe, such as: an obstruction in the windpipe, heartworm disease, bronchitis, pneumonia, lung tumors, kennel cough or even heart failure. This should be evaluated immediately by your veterinarian.

Bloody Diarrhea – Bloody Urine – Bloody Vomit. Any of these should be evaluated by your veterinarian as soon as possible. Some may be the result of minor ailments, while others could be severe or even life threatening. Contact your veterinarian immediately.

While the list of dog symptoms above is not at all all-inclusive, it is meant to be merely a resource of symptoms of which you should always be aware of as a dog owner. Keep an eye on your dogs health in much the same way you would do so for your own child and you will be well on your way to a long and lasting relationship with your own dog. Your dogs health is important so watch for any symptoms your dog may exhibit closely and be ready to act on them as necessary.

As a child I enjoyed collecting reptiles of many kinds. You name it I had it hidden under my bed including snakes, lizards and even an alligator at one point. My mom never knew what she was going to find.

As I got older she completely avoided my room. This allowed me to collect even more. She didn’t realize how many animals I had until I was leaving for college. I couldn’t leave my collection behind so you could only imagine the look on my mother’s face when she saw the amount and types of reptiles I was carrying down the stairs, into my car.

So now I’m at college and realized that I spent more time sneaking reptiles into the dorm room rather than studying. I knew how important college was but I took a gamble and decided to put it on pause to open my own reptile shop. That lasted for a couple of years before I decided I wanted more. I thought about my desires for a while and decided to relocate to an area that could open new doors for me. So I closed my reptile store and moved to Florida where the weather would satisfy my reptiles needs and where I felt I could expand my business.

It was difficult to get started in a new state where I didn’t know anyone. I decided I needed a business name and website. That’s when ExoticJungle was born. I was getting very little business through internet sales and decided to take advantage of my free time and worked my hours to get my permit to work with venomous animals. After that, I needed a job to get by. I worked for a few of the mom and pop reptile stores then landed a job in one of the pet store chains across the US. As much as I disliked working for other people I needed to do it and it gave me the ability to keep my own business running.

Two years later I became the store manager at the pet store and I was becoming exhausted. I became a reptile breeder and my garage was filled with hundreds of mostly venomous snakes that required weekly cleaning and feeding. During this time Exotic Jungle’s name was getting out there and my internet sales were increasing. As a result, I received a phone call from a producer located in CA. They needed to rent a black mamba for Kill Bill Vol II and I just happened to have the animal they were looking for. So off to CA I went for two weeks to film in the movie. That opened doors to an entirely new world for me. It was great but it was becoming too much for one person.

Another year went by and I was hanging in there. I was still working at the pet store and everyone knew of my reptile passions. Oddly enough reptile cages were getting placed in each of the stores one by one. This was my time to shine and I began supplying the reptiles to them. Within a short amount of time, many of the stores were selling reptiles and I was given an option of either staying store manager or giving it up to become their supplier. I could not do both so I decided to take another gamble to pursue my business.

It was time to prove myself. I kept my head held high and did whatever I could to provide support to my family. This included moving the animals out of the garage into a wharehouse and attending as many reptile shows I could.

Five years later I am still the primary reptile supplier for the pet stores and get called for random reptile handler and reptile rental jobs for movies and photo shoots. I’ve had the opportunity to meet lots of celebrities and LOVE my job. The repitle shows have played a huge role the last couple of years and am finally pursing yet another passion and am putting on my own reptile show this summer called the Myrtle Beach Reptile Expo. I can’t wait to see how it turns out.

Who says you can’t turn your childhood hobby into a job of your dreams? I’ve accomplished a lot and will teach my children to pursue their own passions. It does require lots of dedication and work but you truly can do anything you put your mind to.

How to build a Reptile cage?

what are the supplies i need?

Answer
Depending on what your housing. Larger reptiles do better with plywood housing, screen tops and glass views on front. I prefer using the glass because its cheaper and more resistant to the heat lamps. All in all it would be really important to know how big you are wanting. The link below is what I followed to build a home for my tegu. It goes step by step with pictures

Humans are not the only species to suffer from cabin fever. As the weather warms, dogs and cats want to get out in the sunshine and explore. Often this means an increase in activity that can lead to injuries.

Here are the most common injuries associated with a change in seasons:

Cruciate Ligament Rupture – When a pet tears the cruciate ligements in the legs, the limb will suddenly appear lame and have unusual range of movement. The animal may hold the leg off the ground. Pain and swelling may also be symptoms.Torn cruciates usually require surgery. If not treated and the pet weighs over 20 pounds, it can lead to permanent damage. If less than 20 pounds, surgery may not be needed.

Hip dysplasia – Hip dysplasia is a condition of the ball and socket hip joints in which the ball does not properly fit in the socket, causing lameness and painful arthritis. Symptoms include pain or limping during or after exercise. Hip dysplasia is treated with surgery, either total hip replacement for one or both hips, or reconstruction surgery for the joint.

Leg Fractures – Breaks or cracks in the bones of the leg can be caused by impact, stress, or weak bones. Symptoms include limping, misshapen appearance of leg or joint, inability to move, pain, and whining. It may also swell and bleed if the trauma caused an open wound, and the animal may become protective of the area and not want to be petted. An animal suspected of having a broken bone should be taken to the vet immediately. Treatment may include surgery and/or pins to fix the damage, and a splint or cast to protect the bone while it heals.

Patellar Luxation – Also known as luxating patella, this condition occurs when the kneecap (patella) moves around or displaces in and out of place, which can cause lameness. This is typically caused by trauma but may also be caused by malformation during development. Smaller breeds are more prone to patellar luxation and it may be influenced by genetics. Symptoms include yelping suddenly while running, limping, lameness, and refusal to put weight on the leg. If left untreated, the grooves in the bones can gradually wear down, causing more frequent occurrences and pain, leading to possible arthritis. Patellar luxation is typically treated with surgery.

While pet insurance can help with the costs associated with these injuries, the main objective would be to avoid them in the first place. In order to avoid these injuries, it is important to monitor your pet’s level of activity. If they have been fairly sedentary through the colder months, have them ease into activity once the weather warms.

Leaves are falling and chillier temperatures are on their way. Now may be the time in which to prepare your pet for the change in seasons and appraise your less warm climate conditions pet supplies. Though certain breeds are suited for the cold, most pets need assistance in order to stay warm and snug during less warm months. With a little preparation and the right gear, your pet can enjoy the decline and winter months easily. Here are 6 chillier weather items you consider for your pet.

1. Heated Bed – Staying warm and comfy is necessary for your pet in the less warm months. Consider a heated out of doors or indoor bed to aid in keeping your pet warm. There are heated beds designed for most kennels and homes, and there are heated beds designed for cats as well as dogs.

2. Heated Bowl – Having access to water is as significant in the cold months as it is in the heat of Summer. A heated bowl will keep your pets water from freezing and can help to keep pet food from freezing together in lumps. There are both plastic and chrome steel sorts of heated bowls available.

3. Indoor Toys – In the less warm months your pet will often spend some more time inside, but they could still need reasonable exercising to maintain correct health. If your pet spends almost all their time outside in the warmer months, they may experience tedium inside and may become more susceptible to gnawing or negative behaviors. It’s important to have a sensible choice of indoor toys to supply entertainment and help relieve your pet’s natural inclination to chew.

4. Crate or Dog Kennel – especially dogs, feel naturally comfortable in enclosed spaces. It’s relaxing and relaxing for them to pass some time relaxing in a smaller space. A crate, dog house or carrier is a way for your pet to have a place to retreat to when things get a little nerve-wrangling round the house in winter.

5. Boots / Pad Protection – Hard frozen ground, salt and de-icer can be damaging and painful for your pet’s paws. If your pet spends time outside in the winter you want to think about safeguarding their paws with boots or a pad protectant spray or salve.

6. Collar Bell / Blinker – With fall and winter comes more hours of darkness. Having a bell or blinker on your pet’s collar with make it much easier to find them in the dark, especially if they’re going out for regular potty breaks.

What is a pet store that will hire at 16 and actually sells pets. not just supplies?

i’m looking for a job with animals and i already work at a dog kennel but i want to work in a store because the kennel job is only seasonal, so what is a pet store that just doesn’t strictly sell supplies but sells pets also.
=]
thanks in advance.

Answer
You’ll need to go through your local yellow pages and find a smaller, mom & pop type operation. Often time, the big chains like PetSmart and Petco won’t hire under 18 because of liability issues. Start shopping there frequently and let them get to know you. At the same time, find out as much as you can about them. If they buy the pets that they sell from commercial breeding operations, you really don’t want to work there. Puppy mills = yuck!

Another option that you might consider is an apprenticeship with a groomer or a trainer. You wouldn’t be paid much (or at all) at first, but you would be working with animals, and learning a valuable trade.

My dog used to get fleas every summer season like clockwork. As soon as the weather started warming up, she’d start scratching. The scratching got so bad at times that her hair would fall out in certain areas, revealing skin that was red and raw. I of course did everything I could to try to control the problem. Shampoos, dips, special collars, oral medications — you name it, I tried it. Nothing seemed to work until my vet recommended Advantage flea medicine.

the flea medicine is different from all the other brands I’ve ever tried on my pet. For one thing, the active ingredient in the flea medicine didn’t seem to irritate my dog’s skin any more than it already was. In addition, unlike other products that can take hours to work (if they ever do), this flea medicine starts working within minutes. At first, I just thought that was a promotional line that the company prints on its labels in order to get consumers to try the product. But after using this flea medicine on my pet, I could see that the claim was legitimate. My dog seemed to scratch much less frequently after the cream was applied, and after several hours, the difference was even more noticeable.

Another thing I like about Advantage flea medicine is that it’s so easy to use. The directions are clearly printed on the tube, and all I have to do is apply the pre-measured dose once a month between my dog’s shoulders. Unlike other topical creams, Advantage flea medicine doesn’t make a big mess and doesn’t leave my dog’s hair all greasy and slimy. These monthly applications help ensure that eggs and larvae get destroyed along with adult fleas. As a result, fleas are attacked at all stages of their life cycles, which means they will be gone for good after only a few applications.

As you might expect, Advantage flea medicine is pricier than other brands. Let’s just say that you get what you pay for here! I initially purchased Advantage flea medicine from my vet, which is what the manufacturer recommends. This is due to the fact that the vet must measure out the monthly dosages based on the pet’s weight. But after a while, I started noticing that more and more online veterinary supply stores were offering Advantage flea medicine at huge discounts. I was able to save 50 percent off my order when going through one of these websites, which made a substantial difference for me since my dog required the treatments month after month. In fact, if it wasn’t for this discount, I might not be able to continue providing Advantage flea medicine for my dog, so it’s a good thing I found that great deal!

If your pets are suffering from fleas, I suggest trying Advantage flea medicine. It works faster and lasts longer than any other flea control product I’ve ever used.
