A cat’s illness can be devastating for the people that love them. These often independent, graceful and loving family members can break our hearts when we see them suffering or ill. The nature of the illness will impact how we react to it.

Even a minor illness can make us worry. Seeing your cat out of sorts, uncomfortable or in pain can be devastating. It is important however, to retain your perspective because your feline friend will need your help and care.
The first thing you need to do is to make sure you are caring for your cat the way you need to be. You should meet with a veterinarian as soon as you see that your cat is not feeling well. They will be able to determine which cats illness they have. Once they have identified the illness they can tell you the recommended treatment.

If you are notified that the cats illness your cat has is incurable it is still important for you to remain calm and keep proper perspective. You should ask the vet whether or not your cat is in pain and what options there are to alleviate their suffering.

If it comes to pass that your cat is suffering and you need to end their suffering you need to make sure you have a good support system around you. It is always a difficult decision to put a pet down. Do not underestimate the grieving process.

People who do not own pets may not understand the extent of the grieving process. You will want to make sure you have one or more people in your life that can help you through a difficult time. Whether it is a cats illness that has you worried or their passing, it is a difficult time and you should seek help in coping.

Referring to pet cares, there are many aspects you should not ignore. Among them, a pet health care insurance is significant and dispensable if you want to make both you and your pet a happy life.

A pet health plan can lower your pet’s routine health care costs and can be critical in the event of an unexpected illness or injury, but choosing a plan can be difficult.

These are just a few of the companies offering health insurance for pets. Choosing between them can be a daunting task. Therefore, you should do some preparation before starting the pet health insurance.

1 Investigating the Pet Health Insurance Company

You’ll be relying heavily on the honesty and integrity of the company supplying the pet health plan. Investigate them thoroughly. Basic questions you’ll want to consider are:

How long has the company been in business?
What is their track record? Are they reliable?
Are there any complaints on file against them with the Better Business Bureau?
Are they and their sales representative licensed to sell insurance in your state?

There are several things you can do to investigate further. Broaden your search and investigate at least three different pet insurance companies; search the web for sites which review pet insurance and see how the company rated; ask your friends and coworkers who own pets which company they use and whether they are satisfied with the company; and so on.

2 Choose a Policy Appropriate to Your Needs

Once you’ve decided on a pet health insurance company to provide for your dog or cat, you’ll need to choose an individual policy. Make sure you understand the policy and read all the fine print so that you know what you are buying.

3 Other Considerations Pertaining to Your Pet Health Plan

Many pet health insurance companies offer a high deductible policy with a correspondingly lower premium. This may be an alternative if the premium for lower deductible policies is out of your financial reach. These policies can offer an affordable measure of protection in the event that your pet suffers a catastrophic illness or injury. Having this protection may allow you to pursue treatment which you might otherwise not be able to afford for your pet.

Of course, there are many other aspects you have to pay attention to pet care, but never forget that you’d better begin with a pet health care insurance.

Best pet health insurance?

I have 3 wonderful dogs and love them all very much. But I worry every day that something bad will happen and I won’t be able to afford the emergency treatment that they will need. I want to purchase pet health insurance but I am not sure what company is the best? Can any one give me some advise?

Answer
Honestly, the best thing you can do for them is to get a credit card just for pet emergencies, start a savings account for pet emergencies or get care credit. Pet Insurance unfortunately usually costs people more than it saves.

The problem with most pet insurance companies is that they are not going to cover anything they consider a ‘pre-existing condition’ or anything they consider ‘hereditary’. While your dog maybe healthy now, the things they consider pre-existing conditions are any illness or disease that is common in your breed of dogs, even if it’s a mutt.

Every dog has certain conditions that are common to that bread. Like Cocker Spaniels are prone to Hypothyroidism, patellar luxation, skin problems and urinary tract problems. If you had a Cocker Spaniel and got him insurance, even if he’s perfectly healthy now your insurance wouldn’t cover any of those things because they consider them ‘pre-existing’ due to breed type. The unfortunately fact is, every breed has these conditions that are common to that breed. The reason it’s so important that insurance covers these is because your dog is much more likely to come down with one of these illnesses if it’s in his breed history than anything else. That is also why insurance companies wont cover them because it would cost them too much money.

Even if you have a mutt from a shelter you can’t escape this because the vet has to put down a breed type on their paper work. Even if it’s a mutt, they’ll look at the dog and try to guess. The pet insurance companies will also insist on you giving them a breed on their paper work as well, you can’t just put down ‘mutt’ or ‘mix’. So when you are looking at the paper work for insurance companies, really REALLY read the fine print hard and inquire what that company considers ‘pre-existing conditions’ and what sort of things they don’t cover. Look up the sort of illnesses your breed (or what you think it might be if you have a mix) so you can tell/ask if they cover those things or not.

A lot of insurance companies wont cover accidents either. If they feel it was due to owner negligence you will be out of luck. Like if you were at the park with your dog playing fetch and it got hit by a car they’ll consider it your fault due to not having the dog on a leash. Or if they find your fence was damaged and not fixed well enough and your dog got out they’ll consider it your fault. So again, read the fine print REALLY well.

It’s hard to recommend a company to you because the companies vary so much on what they cover. You need to look at what sort of dog you have, it’s age and what you want that insurance to cover then really really do your homework on them as far as what they will and wont cover and how much you want to pay deductible wise, co-pay wise etc.

There is nothing worse than having an accident or illness with your pet and thinking you are covered when you aren’t. That’s why I say it’s much better to get a credit card, care credit, or start a savings account. There will be no surprises during a time of need with those.

Good luck and I wish the best to you and your pets!

Have you ever tried to give your pet a pill?%26nbsp;

Sure can be tricky%26hellip;and scary too!

But when your pet is sick, it often has to be done.%26nbsp; That%26rsquo;s all part of pet heath care.%26nbsp;

Next time you have to give your pet a pill, here are the 3 best, proven methods and some tips and tricks for each to make the job easier %26ndash; for both you and your pet!

Method 1.%26nbsp; Encapsulate the pill in food.%26nbsp; If the medication can be taken with food, this is generally your best bet.%26nbsp; The best foods for dogs are butter, cheese, cream cheese, peanut butter, lunchmeat, liverwurst, bread, and bacon.%26nbsp; For cats, butter, tuna, cream cheese, baby food, and canned cat food work well.%26nbsp; Liverwurst works for cats too.%26nbsp;

Experiment with different foods until you find something your pet likes and always praise them when you give it to them.%26nbsp; With the right combination, your pet may actually look forward to pill time.%26nbsp;

Use a small bite-size amount of food.%26nbsp; Don%26rsquo;t bury the pill in your pet%26rsquo;s full meal portion because if he doesn%26rsquo;t finish it, he may not get the medication.%26nbsp;

It%26rsquo;s often a good idea to occasionally give your pet the food without the pill, so he gets used to eating it quickly.%26nbsp; What you want is for your pet to gulp it down without a second thought.%26nbsp;%26nbsp;%26nbsp;

Method 2.%26nbsp; Grind up the pill and blend it into some moist food.%26nbsp; Again, ensure that the medication can be taken with food.%26nbsp; Also, check with your vet to make sure crushing is OK.%26nbsp; The crushed pill will dissolve much faster in your pet%26rsquo;s stomach and some medications are intended to be digested slowly.

The best foods are those that are a little sticky and have a strong flavor of their own.%26nbsp; These include cream cheese, butter, peanut butter, liverwurst, and honey.%26nbsp; Again, use only a small portion size.%26nbsp;

You can have your pet lick the food containing the ground medication off of your finger, or you can put it in their food dish, or spread it on a treat you already know they like.

Again, experiment until you find something your pet really likes and occasionally give them some of the food between pills.%26nbsp; Praise them lavishly whenever you give them the food, making it seem like they are getting a special treat.

Method 3.%26nbsp; Feed the pill to your pet directly.%26nbsp; Use this approach if the pill must be given on an empty stomach or if the pet won%26rsquo;t accept the pill hidden in their food.%26nbsp; Be careful though, as some pets can react badly to having the pill force-fed to them.%26nbsp; With cats, it is generally a good idea to wrap them in a towel to protect against getting scratched.

First, tilt your pet%26rsquo;s head back slightly, then carefully open their mouth and place the pill in the back part of their mouth.%26nbsp; Gently hold their mouth closed and slowly stroke them on their throat or blow on their nose until they swallow the pill.%26nbsp; With cats, it is a good idea to follow the pill with a small amount of water given from an eyedropper or syringe (no needle please).%26nbsp; This helps them to swallow the pill and protects against the pill abrading their esophagus.%26nbsp; Always be calm and gentle.%26nbsp; This will help your pet remain calm.

Whatever method you use to administer the pill, always check to make sure your pet has swallowed it.%26nbsp; Pets can be pretty clever in disposing of the pill when you aren%26rsquo;t looking, so never just assume it went down.%26nbsp;%26nbsp;%26nbsp;%26nbsp;

Important:%26nbsp; Learning how to administer pills is an important part of pet health care.%26nbsp; Find a method that works for your pet and always make sure your pet gets his or her meds on time every time.%26nbsp; As a pet owner, that is your responsibility.%26nbsp;%26nbsp;%26nbsp;

%26nbsp;

Why do we have a free market in health care for pets, but not for people?

http://blog.mises.org/13201/treat-us-like-animals-please/

The linked article points out how our animal health care system operates just like any other industry on the free market and not like our ridiculous partially socialized and partially free human health care system (contrary to the fantasies of the partisans, this describes our current health care system for humans, which will be slightly more socialized after the next presidential election when Obama Health Care takes effect).

Shouldn’t we have a free market in health care for people, just as we do for animals?

Answer
Because pets are not as important as humans. People may get excited and think that pets have better health care than people, but it simply isn’t true. The number of pets that receive health care is very small compared to humans, and the quality of their care is considerably less.

The people at Mises think that drunk driving should be legal and that it should only be a crime if you do damage while driving drunk.

http://mises.org/daily/2343

These kinds of “free market” ideals don’t work. Just like socialism fails to take into account peoples motivation to work, libertarianism fails to take into account the risks that people are willing to take and how one persons risky behavior impacts other people in ways that the risk taker cannot possibly pay for.

Many people will wonder after acquiring a new pet if they should take out insurance to cover their pet health care. This article will outline a few important reasons why insurance in crucial in the ongoing process of a successful pet health care program.

Cost

The sticking point for many when debating the issue of pet insurance is the cost. It seems to defy logic to shell out X amount a month on insurance when your pet is perfectly fit and healthy.

The sad fact is that all pets will require medical attention at some point in their lives, be it major or minor. Vets are incredibly expensive. Even the smallest of treatments can cost hundreds of pounds. The cost of insurance is tiny compared to the costs incurred at the vet without it.

Pets become members of the family and it can be a troubling time when they are ill or involved in an accident. Pet insurance takes the financial burden out of this difficult time.

Owners will normally do all they can to ensure their pets live long, happy lives, but it is likely that at some point all pets will need medical attention or treatment. Once you accept this, the idea of outlaying a little a month on insurance becomes a far more digestible concept.

The Direct Benefit on Pet Health Care

Insurance directly benefits your pet health care program because it means you can keep your pet in tip-top condition, regardless of the severity of its illness.
Without insurance, you might think twice about taking your dog to the vet for smaller concerns and minor illnesses. With insurance, there is absolutely no excuse for not seeing the vet regularly and ensuring your pet hasn’t picked up any illnesses that don’t display symptoms, such as worms.

The cost of serious medical attention for a pet can easily run into thousands of pounds. Taking out pet insurance could allow your pet to have life-saving treatment, which would be otherwise unaffordable.

Insurance will also benefit your pet’s health if they happen to go missing. Some insurance policies will cover the cost of finding a lost pet, such as advertising and rewards.

A Modest Proposal: Is there time to include a pet option in the Health Care Reform?

FACT: There are more uninsured pets than people in the U.S. by a 3 to 1 margin.

FACT: Pets cannot be expected to pay for their own health care since the government prevents them from holding down paying jobs.

FACT: Federalized preventative care for pets would save the U.S. Economy billions in more expensive veterinary care — including expensive drugs, surgeries, chemo-therapy and specialized foods.

FACT: Employers and existing State and Federal Programs do not provide pet care to their employees and offer no subsidy for pet care to the working poor creating pet-care gap between the wealthiest and poorest Americans.

FACT: Pet Health insurers are making enormous profit margins insuring healthy pets, but limit what they will pay when pets get sick, can cancel sick pets and have limitations on coverage for preexisting pet conditions.

FACT: Pets are not consulted in end of life decisions and millions are literally being euthanized because the show up in need of medical care that no one is willing or able to pay for.

FACT: Happy and healthy pet contribute to the productivity of their owners and reduce the number of sick days, the number of days they stay home with sick pets and extend the life span of those who own them.

FACT: By taxing wealthy Americans and veterinarians, we can show compassion for the most vulnerable among us without asking any sacrifice from the 98% of Americans.
Mike,

So are you saying we should cover DOGs — that’s my point!
Guru,

The President appointed a deputy attorney general who advocated for pets to be allowed to be represented by attorneys — this is not “straying” to far from that notion.
OK, so perhaps we should require proof of pet insurance when you adopt a pet and a tax penalty if you let it lapse after adoption?
Mark,

But it will be there in case one day you need a pet — like a seeing eye dog, or a wheelchair campanion dog or a dog for the deaf.

Answer
.
I hear ya, pal.

And the more hate-filled xenophobic anti-science fundamentalist Bible-thumping drivel that I see here, the less I mind cleaning up dog’s poop while we’re out on walks…

How does pet health insurance work?

Is it like human health insurance where most of the time they will not cover pre-existing conditions?

My cat has epilepsy and the seizures are becoming more frequent recently. The vet told us before that there is a medication they can try to give her to stop the seizures. Problem is, it’s very very expensive and would be a daily thing.

So, if we were to get insurance for her now, could we then take her to the vet so the medication would be covered by the insurance?

Thanks

If you are like most Americans you are living paycheck to paycheck each week. You know how this affects you, but what about how it affects your pets? All too regularly I see people cutting back or bypassing needed veterinary care for their pets simply because they cannot afford to pay the bills. Any pet owner knows the bills I am talking about. Making the decisions to bypass needed pet health care such as rabies vaccinations, parvo vaccines, booster shots, checkups, specialty dog foods, and a host of other expenses for our pets, could cost us our pets in the long run.

Why is it that we think we can skip needed medical treatments for our pets and hope everything will turn out ok? Perhaps it is because as a society we tend to do this to ourselves. I know I hate going to the doctors on a regular basics. It costs money, never makes me feel any better, and never seems to do anything for me. I am stubborn too, so I am sure that does not help.

But I am not a dog or a cat, and they have things a little differently then we do. First off, we do not sniff each others butts all the time. While pets do this as a manner of socialization, we must understand that there is potential for bacteria transfer. Same goes with the area where pets relieve themselves outside. Sure we can scoop the poop, but unless you are washing the grass, there are still bacteria present. Your pets are walking through this area daily, and they are barefoot. If they get a cut on their foot this could lead to a high chance of infection.

What about running through the woods all day? Your pets are prone to parasites like fleas and ticks simply by running through some bushes. Sure these same ticks could land on you, but they do seem to like animals better. And any potential pest carries along a number of problems. Fleas can carry worms which pets can get by ingesting (eating) the flea when they chew on them. Sounds disgusting, but that’s how they get them.

These are just two of the common problems you might not even think about when you own a pet. Worst of all, there are a lot of other hazards out there for your pets to encounter, such as broken glass, rabid animals, stagnant water sources, rusty nails and who knows what else.

Do your pet a favor. Spend less money on tennis balls and chew toys and get them all of the required shots, medications and vaccinations they need. These are more important to your pets overall health and could end up saving your pets life. They will be much happier to spend more time with you with only one chew toy then the alternative.

NEW Pet scorpion care and health?

i have just gotten a pet scorpion so what are some details i should know about it and some hints on keeping ot healthy
my pet is about 6 inches long maybe longer

Answer
Here are some very important facts on keeping scorpions. This answer’s going to get a little long lol, so be prepared.

You will need a locking screen top tank. A 5-10 gallon tank is fine for one or two scorpions. A 15-20 gallon tank will be needed if keeping a communal colony.

For tropical scorpions you will need eco-earth or bed-a-beast substrate. For desert scorpions you may use commercial play sand as substrate.

A hide area or multiple hiding areas if you have more than one scorpion. Half logs available at most pet stores work well for this. A shallow water dish is needed for them.

Optional decorations available at pet stores may be added to the cage if you desire to make it a more attractive and natural looking habitat. An under the tank heat pad should be provided on one side of the tank.

Specific lighting is not required for scorpions because they are nocturnal, but a UV black light will make your scorpion glow and is very interesting to see.

You should have gut loaded crickets and other insects for feeding your scorpion.

These are all things to remember when keeping a pet scorpion, hopefully I helped you out some. Good luck to you and your new buddy! (:

Owning a pet is one of the most common features that can be seen in almost all our households. And for most pet owners pets are a part of their family. But at the same time it has become one of the most expensive affairs. It is because of the treatment or the care they may need during their lifetime. Apart from the day-to-day costs of feeding and keeping your pet in good condition, there are many unplanned costs that include vets’ fees during operations and accidents, which you might find difficult to cover. Because of this, it’s a good idea to buy a pet health insurance policy which will protect both you and your pet. Pet health care insurance is a policy where the insurer will pay you for the covered costs of the treatment of your pets and in the return you have to shell out a certain sum of premium to the insurer at regular intervals.

There are different insurance companies that offer various health insurance policies and you can opt for the best policy that will suit your needs and family status. There are different health insurance plans for cats, for dogs and for your other pets. Policies vary from one company to other company.

And also the rate of premiums varies from company to company. Usually the policies under veterinary pet health insurance are cheaper for dogs and cats but little higher for other pets such as horses, rabbits etc. So before handing over your premiums to an insurer who provides pet health insurance, it is important for you to do a detailed research of all these information. Hence we suggest you to shop around a little. Now with online facilities on pet health insurance in UK it is easier to search and shop.

It is imperative to keep in mind that most pet care health insurances available in the market do not pay for routine check ups like worming, flea control nor is it likely to cover the pre-existing medical conditions that your pet has been suffering.

Apart from that, for some diseases and treatments that may need a long time, say more than a year, it is necessary to renew the policy at the end of the year. If not, you will loose your claim and the policy may end all together. The best time to buy a pet health insurance for your pet is when it is little, say for instance, 8 weeks old, because it is difficult to get maximum cover at the middle age. Thus according to the pets you own its high time for you to buy a dogs health insurance or cat health insurance or any other pet insurance as soon as possible.

does anyone recommend pet health insurance?

which is a good provider and what’s a good plan? what does it cover? does it pay for meds and vaccinations? how much is it per month? do you get good service? how many vets accept it?

i’d find any information you could give me helpful. thank you so much!

Answer
I have Trupanion for my dog and I think its totally worth it. All pet insurance in the U.S. should be “accepted” by all vets. This is because you pay for the vet bill and then get reimbursed by the insurance company. Though some pet insurance plans don’t cover emergency vet or specialists (I know Trupanion does though).

I pay about $24 a month but the cost depends on how big of a deductible you choose, how old your pet is, etc.

What it covers: all diagnostic tests, surgeries, medications for accidents and illnesses that are not preexisting.

I’d suggest you don’t get an insurance that covers routine care like check-ups because you are paying more for the insurance company to cover this than if you just paid directly to the vet.

I think pet insurance is great, especially for younger pets that have a whole lifetime of potential accidents and sickness ahead of them!

The iPhone by Apple prides itself on the fact that it has a number of ‘apps’ with which you can find almost any information. No surprise then that there are now even apps for such an important issue as pet health care.This is great news for hundreds of pet owners who use their mobile phones more often than computers to obtain information, as the many pet health care apps offer a diverse range of information, close to hand.

All of the applications were created to be user friendly for the average pet owner who just wants quick to find and easy to access information on pet health care. The Pet First Aid app offers very handy snippets of easy to understand information and advice on pet health care. The app also offers advice and instructions on how to perform physical checks on your pet to help you figure out what the problem might be. A very useful ‘what’s normal’ section allows yiou the owner to check a symptom or behaviour to see if it is cause for concern.

The mobile symptom checker also works in a similar manner to the first aid application.It works in a comparable way to its human equivalent, the NHS direct website, allowing users to search symptoms by category.

To help pet owners to keep up to date with their animal’s pet health care records there is a Vet Records app. You can input medical information and track medical treatment. The vet would obviously have this information recorded anyway, but the application would be especially useful should the pet need to receive urgent treatment from another vet, perhaps when away from home on holiday.

Pet health care fans will really love the Pet Services finder app.It is a cross between Google and the Yellow Pages and allows pet owners to find any animal service from vets to dog walkers to catteries in the local area.

The best of the rest include an Off the Leash application which can point dog owners in the direction of interesting walks where their pets are welcome and the Vet Dictionary which helps put animal health care terms into plain English.

Overall, you can see the difference technology is making to pet health care through the accessibility and simplicity of the iphone apps.

Anyone that needs more pet health care advice can find a plethora of information located at Pet Health Information online. Their site is free to use and it could help steer you in the right direction with your beloved pet. Go there today.

The market is full of pet insurance policies of different types. You have to be careful when you’re shopping for a pet health coverage plan, to know what you’re looking for and exactly what you need out of such a plan, in order to determine what will be the most useful and provide the most value for you.

A) Don’t Compromise on Costs
Don’t simply choose the least expensive plan available. In many cases, a cheap plan will not provide much coverage, with a deductible and copayment so high, and maximum payment cap so low, that it will not likely help you prevent a big pet health care expense. Paying monthly premiums for a plan that won’t be of any use in the case of a real emergency is worse than nothing at all. The value of the plan in terms of potential savings compared to its cost is far more important than the cost alone.

B) Look Out For Maximum Benefits
The maximum benefits associated with a plan are one of the most important factors to consider before making a decision from a pet insurance comparison. For example, some pet owners do not purchase plans that cover terminal illnesses or third-party liability, even though terminal illnesses and damages caused by a pet to a third party or their property can be the most costly expenses in the pet’s life.

C) Maintain Proper Medical Records
Well-maintained and up to date medical records serve as proof that you are a responsible pet owner. Some insurance companies will not even consider a pet that does not have satisfactory medical records. This includes many of the best policies, meaning that poorly maintained pet health records can prevent you from getting the best coverage available.

D) Expense Covered During Treatment
Some insurance plans cover expenses indirectly related to veterinary and hospital visits, such as outpatient care and special prescription diets. Because such secondary expenses can be significant in some cases, it’s worth looking into whether the plans you’re considering will cover them.

E) Check for Genetic Problems
Much like preexisting conditions, some health plans for pets do not cover hereditary problems. If your pet suffers from genetic conditions, it’s important for you to find out whether a given insurance policy will cover them. You will need to provide complete details about the genetic problems when filling out an application, because otherwise the insurer may refuse coverage on the grounds that the condition was not properly described.

Dog health care must include regular rabies shots, although many dog owners do not keep their pets’ vaccinations up to date. The misconception is that since the dog doesn’t run free, it’s not important.

Even though you keep your dog restrained on a leash or in a yard, you can never guarantee he will not come in contact with this deadly disease.

Did you know that your dog can pick up the rabies virus simply by licking the ground? If a rabid animal has left saliva or other body fluid shortly before you passed, your dog is at risk.

Much of the focus for many owners is on obedience training. Dog health care is often only an issue when the dog first arrives at the home or when it becomes ill.

Rabies shots are essential if you want to ensure your dog stays healthy. But that’s not the only reason. If your dog comes in contact with a rabid animal, such as fighting with a raccoon, skunk or an infected dog, your pet could be euthanized.

And if that isn’t enough to get you to the vet, consider that rabies is a threat to your family as well.

What can you do to protect your dog and your family?

Rabies vaccines gradually lose their effectiveness over time. The longer it is since your dog was vaccinated, the more at risk he or she will become. In fact, within as a little as six months, your dog could be at risk. The maximum length of time the vaccine lasts is about two years, but by that time it’s effectiveness has deteriorated significantly.

Many people use this two-year point as the period when they give their dogs booster rabies shots. This is an unsafe practice.

For the best protection, you must have your dog vaccinated every year. Any good vet will send you a reminder every year that your dog’s shots are due.

Dog health care is important, but preventative health care is more important. It ensures your dog is protected against dangerous and painful diseases. Rabid animals suffer terribly. The disease affects their entire nervous system causing death. There is no cure.

Regular dog health care measures can protect your family from the rigors of taking the ‘cure’ if your dog does come in contact with the rabies virus.

And rabies dog health care can save your dog’s life.

Recently, two dogs in North Carolina suffered after fighting with a rabid fox. One was quarantined for 6 months, the other was euthanized. That state also had a cat and a raccoon that were rabid.

You can never be sure when rabies will be present. Infected neighborhood cats, raccoons and skunks can wander into any yard without your knowledge and leave rabies-laden saliva.

If you seldom hear about rabies, do not think that your dog is safe. Every year somewhere in the country there are reported cases of rabies in wild animals. Unprotected dogs have been euthanized after fighting with those rabid animals.

Protection is far better than treatment after the fact. There is no reason for your family or your dog to suffer. It takes about 15 minutes a year to get your dog vaccinated against rabies and other serious diseases.

Make sure your dog health care includes regular rabies vaccines to ensure your dog’s and your family’s safety.

Can someone advice me? Im thinking of training, food, playground space, health care treatment,,…
Thanks!!!

Answer
NO such thing as Mini Pigs or Teacup pigs, there standard size potbelly pigs baby that are deliberately underfed with female mother only 3-4month old themselve.

There are many breeders out there that tell people that potbellied pigs will stay small if you do not feed them a lot. HOWEVER, underfeeding a pig, or any animal for that matter, will cause serious health problems and deformities. As for the so-called “Teacup” or “Micro-Mini” pigs, these are just normal potbellied pigs that have been chronically underfed and malnourished in an attempt to keep them small. Their life span is maybe five years or less. This is because the pig stays tiny, but the organs continue to grow as for a normal size pig. Teacups, Micro-Mini’s, European, Blues, these are all fancy names made up by breeders. All potbellied pigs within the United States come from the same line

Many breeders are frantically trying to breed smaller and smaller potbellied pigs in hopes that the smaller size will attract more buyers. We have investigated and seen numerous pigs advertised as a “teacup” or “micro-mini” pigs. In virtually every case, what we have found was a normal potbellied pig that has been chronically underfed and malnourished in an attempt to keep it small. This information has been verified with numerous other sanctuaries and knowledgeable pig people. In the few instances where a very small (less than 20 pounds) pig has been bred, it has been the result of inbreeding or very concentrated cross breeding. These pigs tend to be sickly and unhealthy pigs with a myriad of health problems and very short life spans. At the present time, and to our knowledge, the “teacup” or “micro-mini” pig does not exist, nor has any one successfully bred a healthy and normal pig this size. We are certain, however, that the quest by breeders to breed this highly desirable and highly marketable pig will continue.

BEWARE OF BREEDERS!!! Most breeders are only in business to make money. They will lie to you and tell you anything to make you want to buy from them. They have been known to tell people that their pigs are “micro-minis” or “teacup pigs” and that their pigs will get no more than 30 pounds. They will show you the cutest teeniest tiniest newborn piglets, fewer than 10 pounds or so, then show you the parents of the piglets. Keep in mind that pigs can breed when they are only 3-4 months of age. Therefore, naturally if they have bred the pigs at 3-4 months of age, the parents will obviously still be fairly small, yet the breeder will tell you this is the “full-grown size” of those cutest teeniest tiniest piglet’s parents, without telling you the age of the parents nor mentioning the fact these pigs continue grow until 3-4 years of age.

Every year hundreds, if not thousands, of potbellied pigs are abandoned, “thrown away” or die, due to lack of information and knowledge. Many potbellied pigs are abandoned because buyers had unrealistic expectations, or were given the wrong facts (like the ridiculous statement: “a potbellied pig will stay small if you feed it less,” a favorite of many unscrupulous breeders!). Remember that underfeeding causes malnutrition and sickness. This is why we strongly suggest ADOPTING as opposed to buying from breeders. Shelters, sanctuaries & foster care facilities are overflowing with potbellied pigs that have been abandoned & neglected because these so-called “micro-mini” or “teacup pigs” got “too big.” We strongly feel that these pigs need loving homes FIRST, before bringing any more pigs into the world. To buy from breeders only encourages breeders to breed more, which in turn causes many older pigs to die in shelters, sanctuaries, foster care or abandoned and left to die alone out in the deserts or turned loose on the streets.
